Does is seem to anybody besides myself that RCU is becoming too fragmented? It feels like every so often the list of topics or sub topics grows. Just for fun I counted the topics and sub topics and I came up with 73!....47 for discussion and 26 in the classified. I could be off by one or two and I didn't count the forum rules, but still that number is almost staggering.
Is this what RCU users really want.....to have their discussions completely segregated? I always find that I learn more if in the course of discussion other topics that I hadn't thought of surface and I get to read/hear what others have to say.
Personally, I'd like to see RCU downsize the topics a little more. Bring modelers back together if only just a little. Maybe we could add some of the subtopics into the description of broader topic name to let people know where other likeminded people will be.
Everybody has a different take on this issue, I'm sure, but I felt like I needed to express my opinion in words.
Sincerely,

The balancing act of too few forums vs too many is one of the most difficult parts of building this site...much of what it is if not all comes from user feedback and requests.
What forums would you combine or eliminate? Several I was quite hesitant to add but w/repeated requests I give them a shot to see if they garner enough content to warrant a dedicated forum..when they don't I pull them usually.

This is likely to get me a bunch of flack from the respected users of these forums, but what the heck. It's just an opinion of one user and not an action taken on by RCU.
Here's what I'd do:
Combine Aerodynamics, Composites, Scratch building and even kit building into one topic called airplane construction and design. Add the former titles to the description.
Combine Park fliers and Micro fliers.......maybe even everything electric.
Combine Fun Flying with Aerobatics Pattern and 3D
Combine Extreme Speed and Pylon
Combine Scale planes and Warbirds
Combine engines into two groups, gas and glow
Have people put their user product reviews into the appropriate category and drop that topic all together; same with Questions and Answers......isn't the whole of RCU questions and answers?
Combine Small Stuff for sale and Miscellaneous for sale.
These are just suggestions of my own. Some of these topics may have too much traffic for it to make sense combining them, but the subject matter seems too closely related fro them to be separate in my mind. Maybe some re-grouping with fewer main topics and more subtopics would be better.
