I vote no. Even if it stayed in it's own forum, it would still be using server resources for non-RC. I think most frequent visitors here agree that we really appreciate the speed which Marc has maintained with server upgrades, etc. I'd hate to see that go to non-RC discussions.

I also vote no.

I am a member of many other boards, not just R/C related and the ones with OT forums are really out of control.

Yes, the OT flame wars bleed into the legitimate forums and we have MORE flame wars.

The tension is apparent as soon as one reads a few posts.

Talk about intimidate the new guy!

O/T is a nightmare for mods, too.

I like to know that when I come here I will just get good, competent advise from great folks and the rest of the world's problems can just fade away. The reason I took up R/C was to escape from everyday stress and to meet the great people that frequent this hobby.

...And you guys are great, do you know that?????

Isn't there enough everyday stress to deal with? Why would anyone want to create more?

Crash Pictures & Discussion is the most stress I want to see, thanks.

No O/T for this guy.......thanks, anyway.

RCU has a wonderful focus--anything and everything RC. There are thousands of other message boards out there that focus on other topics such as full-scale, politics, religion, music, and what not. My advice is to visit one of those when you feel the desire to talk about those subjects. RCU is just one of the sites I actively participate in. For my other interests, I go elsewhere.

I'll let this run a bit longer to allow other people to give their perspectives, but I'll be moving it to the Suggestions forum a bit later this evening.

Some take it personally. I don't, I get somewhat angry at times but not very. My posts may seem strong but actually if I were talking it would ususally be in a calm voice.

I sometimes post in FreeRepublic, but most posters are like minded conservatives and I get tired of most people agreeing. I would like to see what fellow modelers think. Their are some political discussions on the usenet, but lately its Europeans taking one side and Americans on the other, and neither seeming to get through to each other.

I too would like to see a full scale forum. I have a privite pilot's licence, but with a wife and kids I just cannot afford it right now. In fact I can barely affore R/C right now.

Yeah the AMA forum can be hot, and I have entered some of the discussions but IMO AMA doesn't seem important enough for me to stay intrested for very long.

Intresting about flame wars spilling over. There are a few flame wars on the Usenet, but world and national politics doesn't seem to have as many grudge match's as, Ahhm AMA politics. Seems to me that most of those grudge match's are spilling over from real life interactions though. And real life can have grudges that hurt more than words on the internet.

Some people just can't take "No" for an answer!
He has managed to have an "OT" right here!
Sport Pilot doesn't list a location or any info
in his profile to tell us any thing about him,
yet wants to tell us his political views when
it has been made clear the answer to his original
question is NO! Take it somewhere else.

You know this has been discussed ad nauseum (sp?) and it's just not going to happen here!!! Time to put this to bed.
