i am having a problem with a 3250 that i aquired in a trade, tried to get it to run good ,but motor seemed to be low on compression. took it apart to see if a problem could be found, i noticed the ring was installed with the gap in the locating pin, instead of the little notch in the ring. also noticed a shiny spot on the ring 180 degrees across from the gap, when i took the ring off the piston, it broke at the shiny spot. cylinder looks fine after deglazing it. i have a new ring for it and went to check the end gap and it didn't have much at all if any. what is the recomended gap? thanks.

We're sorry, but we don't have a specification for the ring gap on your SuperTigre G3250. Likely, it's 4-5 thoussndth's or so...just enough that the ends won't touch when the engine warms up to operating temperature. The exact position of the ring gap isn't critical, as long as it's on a web. We've seen them 180 degrees "off", but still on a web. The streak you saw originally was the factory postion. It best if the engine's reassembled the way it came apart.
