Can you help me identify my engine? Has large G on left side...ST on right side with small circle boss below stamped .40. Head is round with six bolts...haven't opened it...but looking inside the exhaust port seems to be ABC. Bearings? if any, feel a bit rough. No muffler.

It could be an old G-40. However, it would not have much in common with the current GS-40 engine. Your engine would be quite old.
