G51 Vs Perry Pump Vs Muffler
Hello All,
if I install a perry pump on my G51, do I need to use any muffler?
Is there any advantage of not using a muffler?
Thanks
Mauricio

RE: G51 Vs Perry Pump Vs Muffler
Dear all,
After almost a month of rain, I finally had chance to fire up my G51, I'm using WildCat 10% fuel, no muffler at all and a vp30 Perry pump.
The righ speed is ok, the engine is running great on righ speed and I was able to fly 15 minutes nonstop and land w/ dry tank. but I can't get no middle or low speed.
Could anyone there help me to adjust this engine?
Also, no fact of I'm using no muffler on it will it cause any harm to my engine? Many people at the field said no muffler will reduce drastically the engine lifespam. is that true?
Thanks
Mauricio.

Using no muffler will only make a lot of noise, and possibly cause the idle to not be as good as with a muffler. Other than that, you cannot damage your engine if you run without a muffler. You do need some back-pressure to make the idle good, because the back-pressure helps keep the glow plug hot. A muffler does that. In the "old days", before mufflers were common, model engines used a moving baffle to add back-pressure when the throttle was reduced.
