I've got the 401/9650, like most folks, and the tail is rock solid. Even in piro flips and fast inverted backwards it just won't let go. A bit of money, bot totally worth it.

The 401 hold well even on larger helis.. this is a Hirobo heli with a 401 gyro on it.. still hold really well even in tumbles and flips...

soneebee,

I am going to get a copterx and am having a hard time with chooseing radio gear. I really want the dx6 with the s72 servos, do you know much about these servos? will they hold up? and also ehirobo has a copterx esc and brushless motor, i beleive you had this in your copterx (or maybe still have) is it any good?. I realise you pay for what you get but there has to be a limit.
Thanks in advance

I agree with aerodave. The GY401 + S9650 combo for rudder holds the tail rock solid. Though abit pricey, but it's a proven combo where most of us here use it.

Do you guys think this motor is good on a trex? [link=http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=44&products_id=1460]450HDX 3550KV[/link] By the way, i'll be using the Align RCE-BL35X ESC with this motor if it's ok.

TrumphetRhapsody is running that exact motor on his HDX450. If you don't get any other responses maybe you should PM him.

Yes the 401 works great on the big Freya but you have to run a bigger servo.... that's what I have in my Freya and EVO.50 too, with the 9254.

Actually I'm running the HDX motor on my Walkera 36, not my HDX heli. I can't tell much of a difference between it and the 430L though, other than the what, $20? I haven't tried the Align ESC with it, but other than the first one I had dying, I've liked the align ESC. It has cool features and such. I couldn't see getting a $70+ ESC when the $50 align one seems to work fine, I don't know the difference.

Will the Telebee gyro be able to use a 9650 digital servo?

It can, but it wont do digital mode, so you lose some of the benefit it has over analog servos (and even some other digitals).

Radio will be okay.. but Ill go for the HS65 servo for it. the s72 seems to be not that good and can easily strip or burn down on this heli. Its best that you use something that will last longer and with safety. For the motor I still have it on both my helis. it has the same power as the align 430L kinda good though climbouts with a 13T is really fast and has good power and torque.

its a good heli.. its best that you get the new version. it has the V2 tail and gears better control on rudder since its already using the reduced tail drive gears you can go to higher head speed without having trouble with the tail...

Edwardin,

I am doing good. I hope you are too. How's the Trex? Are you getting your own heli soon?

I had my first 'real' flight with my T-Rex and it is awsome! This thing is very nice. I ordered a S9650 and should get it in a week or so. Thanks for the help.

Soneebee,

Yes, but the 60 makes a nice starter heli not being as jittery to the novice. And I am flying with all stock servo's!!! And a great entry price.

The GY401 with the Futaba 9650 servo is very good. If you want the 'ultimate' tail control however, try a JR3400G servo coupled with the 401. It's AWESOME! I have 2 TREXes, both have 401s, but one has the futaba servo and one has the JR. The JR is noticably faster, and holds the tail a bit better.

Just FYI...

Yup JD... I agree that the 60 is a good starter heli.. I have had good flights with this heli and it does fly good... not competition style.. but it still flies better than the other helis...

Do you think [link=http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?products_id=1158]this UBEC[/link] will work really well with my Align 430L, BL35X ESC, and 4 digital servos?

I'm about to try a 4S lipo with my HDX, and accordingly need a BEC so as not to overload the BL35X's internal BEC or fry the receiver.

I don't find any reason why it won't work, this UBEC is rated to accept voltage input up to 30V, the 4S lipos provide 14.8V.

Gents,
Here is a question for any Australians out there. has anyone purchased a full heli kit from the US and imported it back to Australia?
I was looking at the full TREX V2 kit from Nitrohobbies, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=250125354322, but was wondering what customs has to say when you try to buy something like this from overseas. i.e. do they slug you import duties G.S.T. etc.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Mark

Chopperdown,

I don't think they have released the CopterX V2. The version they have now is the V1. Although they may have upgraded the V1 to a V1.5 by now.

Mine is the V1.

I bought my servos from Nitrohobbies and they are really nice to deal with. I live in the US though. I got my S9650 from them.
