Listen to the 4th set of beeps when you power up. Helicopter 2 (soft start) mode is 3 beeps. You may need to set it again and I remember having to do this at some point since my setting was lost.

Soft-start is a built-in feature, but it's not turned on by default. It sounds like you need to re-program the ESC.

My new ESC arrived today!

The 11T pinion actually gave a higher headspeed than the 13T. while doing some light hovering the ESC and motor only got slightly warm(body temp). Looks like the 11T was a better choice than the 13T.

But now a few other questions arise.

After throttling down (on ground) I can hear the belt touching the inside of the tailboom. It's kind of like a ringing sound. Is the belt to loose??

And the motor don't start as expected. When I add throttle to spin up it starts by twiching a lot before it reach som speed. Is my motor gone bad? or is this normal.
I have no soft-start active on my ESC.

Also the new ESC, when connected to the motor with colored wires(red->red, blue->blue, black->black), the motor runs the wrong way. I just switched the blue and red wire and now it is runnning the correct way. Is this the correct way to fix the rotation direction?

Atleast it is flying again. But alas..... it's raining here, and it has the last week. Hoping for some nice flying weather soon.

tnx in advance. (just hope someone still read this thread)

Really appriciate the tips/advice from you Guru's :P

just forgot: Is there a way to check if the rotors are just tight enough? I am new to helis with collective pitch, so I'm not really sure how tight the blades should sit in the blade holders.

Happy flying

John, if you hear it hitting inside the boom, it is most likely too loose. You can find many topics on how to adjust belt tension. Just do a search for "belt tension".

Is this a new motor? it shouldn't be twitching unless there is some resistance and it is having a hard time but then again, you said it no longer runs hot. Try the soft start setting to see if it changes anything.

As for the wiring, man that is screwed up. Maybe the ESC people assembling your unit screwed up

Lastly, the blades should be loose/tight enough so that they colapse when you tilt the heli on it's side.

Glad to hear the 11T worked out for ya.

Switching the ESC to Motor wires like that is normal. On brushless, sensorless motor like we use, there is no specific polarity for the three wires from the ESC.

Generally, you connect them up, test the motor to see which way it's turned, and if it's not right, you can swap any two wires from the motor, to reverse the direction.

As for the blades, I was told by some very experienced people that you should tighten them just enough, so that when you turn the heli on it's side, and give it a bumb with your hand, the blades DON'T fall on their own. You should still be able to move them pretty easily though.

You could tighten them with all your strength, turn the heli on its side and give it a bump and the blades wouldn't fall on their own... I was told the blades SHOULD fall on their own but ONLY if given a bump.

No, I said "just enough", not "with all your strength".

You tighten them until the point at which they don't fall. Oh well, tighten your blades however you want.

tnx guys. My blades are just tight enough to hang on their own and fall when i just touch them(with heli on it side). Will try to enable sodt-start later today.

I'm just confused with the increased headspeed due to the 11T pinion instead of the 13T I used the first time. Guess it was overworking then.

Anyway IT FLIES and it stopped raining I'm in heaven.

Happy flying fellow pilots.
