I'm having problems with two servo horns hitting the inside of the canopy when it is in place. The canopy is actually
pretty difficult to get on. Is this a common problem? Is there a remedy for this? Thanks in advance for any help.

If this is the XL CDE check runryder.com for alternative fixes other than cutting the canopy. I believe they involve removing 1 of the push/pull links.
For the HDE it just requires minor aileron arm trimming.

I just replaced the 3 servos on my XL CDE with HS65HB. for some reason these don't hit the canopy. Expensive fix yes, but if you plan on upgrading to these in the future, it's not worth hacking the canopy. Plus, I noticed a night and day difference in flight performance.

Hi. With mine after I cut screen out, I then split canopy at top and glued off-cut from screen to make it wider by about 10-12mm then cover with decal plenty of clearance and much easier to get on.

Im using the Hitec 65hb's and at first had the long 2 arm servo arms on them..the arms hit the canopy,I took them off and put the shorter 4 arm ones and they seem to not hit now...I hope it will have enough throw for regular flight.
You can see the short 4 arm ones on now.

Morning,
Take a quick look at the picture you put online... notice all that fine white stuff? Thats more than likely from your main gear, looks like you have a problem...
Regards,
Solo.

I had the same problem also with the horns hitting the canopy......but found out from a Align pilot that the servo's were in upside down. If you look at the servo in the picture RBCCONT has put up, you can read the servo name. Also notice that the output shaft is off center (more to the top). If you take the servo out and rotate it 180 degrees then the output shaft is closer to the bottom.this will also make your linkages slope a little down in the front to compensate for the output shaft being lower. This is how they are supposed to be installed, but one would ever think the manual would tell us this. You should never have to modify the canopy to get this to work.

RBCCONT .....From what I been told after mine was looked at by a Align pilot (He is actually a member of our local club....hard to believe, but true, go to www.larksrc.com, then go to the float fly in. read paragraph #4 ). Anyway, They look to be from the picture you have shown. The servo output shaft needs to be low in the mounting housing (180 from what you have pictures). This means you need to turn the servo upside down. And if you do, you will notice that the linkage will also slope up from the servo to the control arm. This is normal, all it does is move the linkage points further down in the canopy. I built 3 of these with the same method I was told, and it works great...No rubbing inside the canopy. You can also move the top linkage ball to the outside of the control arm with no problem. Hope this helps all of you having this problem with the canopy. I cant understand why they don't put this in the manual for these things.

RBCCONT,
If you look close in the packaging that came with the heli, there should be some in there. Use blue lock-tight on them to keep them tight.......Also rmuckley, I hope I didn't step on toes here by invading you thread, just trying to pass on what has been given to me. Hope this helps all that have had this problem......[8D]

Ok....take the ball on the elevator and move it to the inside and and as near the servo output as possible. It will not hit. I will try to post a picture of the xl I have sitting here....This is a friends that is learning to fly and had a slight mishap with the ground...(ok....now how do you post a pic here?)
