Green locktite between the pinion and the shaft. Let it dry over night, blue locktite on the set screw.

When you say hexagonal wrench I hope you don't mean the allen wrench that comes with the kit. If so, you'll need some better tools to work on your t-rex.

I bought a hex driver set from Hudy. They're expensive but very good quality. I also bought a set from Align. They were only $38 and seem as good as my $150 set from hudy, and they have colour-coded handles, nice to tell which one is which.

With either set, I can crank down so hard on the pinion grub screw I worry about snapping the tip off the tool! It will not slip in the socket head of the screw.

Get a new pinion/set screw while you're at it. The pinion is prob fine but I wouldn't risk the lhs giving you an inferior qualilty (less than grade 8 hardness) set screw.

Use Locktite blue, good tools, a new screw, and this problem will
disappear for good!

Another option is to file a small flat on the motor output shaft. A dremel tool with a grinding stone also works.
It will never slip again !

Agreed, true flat area with gives the set screw something to hold to. Nice tip!
