Default 240 or 401

Running an SE with a 240 gyro. Just updated the tail servo to a 9650. Would I gain anything by going to the 401 other than gain adjustment on the radio?

I'm not familar with that one but this is how I see it
if the 9650 is digital,than yes,you would gain the speed of the servo to control the tail under hard 3d.if you are only doing fff/circuts you won't gain anything noticeable
if it's analog,no, you have no reason to go to a 401 unless you are having issues with wag/overshoot

9650 is a digital tail servo. You will get better holding and faster tail response, also the 401 has adjustments that the 240 lacks, over all its a much better gyro.

For the diminutive amount of price difference between the two, I would definitely go with the 401. Don’t waste your money on the futaba servo it will be overkill! Buy a cheaper digital servo, and save your money for repairs. I would not worry about the futaba servo unless you do aggressive flying that demands quick hard response.

[link=http://www.wattsuprc.com.au/product_detail.asp?pid=TADS02]hds - 577 digital servo[/link]

switch the gyro to high frame rate mode (digital) set the centre point , gain at 70% Tail lock and forget your tail !!!

also you cant use a JR digital on a 401 either wrong signal timing ..

I use the HDS-877 on my rex and am very happy with its performance. It actually has a faster response speed than the Futaba s9650 but half the torque. you can look at stats of the servo is at this link. [link]http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=48&products_id=435[/link] If you need more torque, then you can try the HDS-577 (I have not used this one though) the link for the HDS-577 is [link]http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=48&products_id=1119[/link] I hope this helped.

From what I am getting you have a GY240 on your T-rex right now. And you just added the 9650 futaba tail servo.............BAD IDEA

The GY240 is not compatable with digital servos. I would stongly recommend putting the GY401 on it immediatly before any further flights. So far that is a setup that is pretty much impossible to top at this point in the game. Untill a lighter "9650" comes out. If hitec would hurry on theirs......we would be all set

The reason I went to the digital servo is because I have a slow yaw rate. The servo did nothing for that. My throws are to the stops on the tail with my ATV's set at 100%. I noticed that if I lowered the ATV's much the tail was very slow. In order to use 100% on the rudder I had to move the ball link in a bit on the servo. What can I do to get a decent pirouette? Right now it takes a second or two to spin. My raptor 60 is more than twice as fast. BTW this is a Trex 450 SE.

You can lowering the gain a bit.

The 240 will work with digital servos, its not incompatible, you just wont get any benefit by spending the extra cash.

your head speed is TOOO LOW !!!

my trex just whipps around , !! it must be your head speed , or you have some crook lipo batterys , just by adding flight power lipo's to my bird i had to back off my throttle curve to stay under 3000 head speed , im down at around 50 % throttle to hover and 80% throttle to fly aggressive

the batts can make that much of a difference
