I bought the dragon (blue / white). It's not airbrushed exactly the way that they show in the picture. To be quite honest, mine looks more like a fish (carp) LOL. I guess this is the difference between custom airbrushing and production airbrushing.

None the less, it's still pretty cool and the fit is awsome. Mine just went through a pretty major crash and ended with only a scratch - it didn't crack at all. If you're good with airbrushing, you should get the white gelcoat and do it on your own.

There is dirt in the paint as well. All in all it's still a pretty cool canopy.

Wow, That's a really cool carp, or should we say.... a very angry koi... Really, I'm not being a jerk. I think it's a cool paint job but it looks nothing like what their selling. I would be pissed off if I got that in the mail.... Not that yours is bad because it isn't but because that's not what you paid for. I have bought stuff from them before and I've allways recieved what I paid for... I've been waiting for them to do a great white... I guess one needs to have them e-mail a real pic of the product before paying for it.... well, at least for the canopys.

Actually your thread inspired me to write them with the exact RANT. For $70 + S&H, it should be exactly what they're selling. Especially when they post 4 pictures of the canopy in different views to show you the detail.

The koi thing sounds good. Better than a carp, but I guess a koi is a carp.

Well... yeah. It's not what their selling.... Please do keep us up to date on this one. I've been thinking about getting a cool fibreglass canopy... Now, I'm starting to wonder... My LHS doesn't carry anything worth buying.... So it's going to be mail order for me and "sorry" theres just nothing....well, It's just hard to imagine a fire breathing Koi

Get the plain white fiberglassed one and take it (along with the 4 pictures from HD) to your local airbrusher (the ones who paint helmets, etc).

We'll see what Heli-Direct says about this one. They've given me pretty good service so far, so maybe they'll take care of me.

hope so.... they have been very good to me aswell. I'm thinking your right. Just need to find the right local guy.

Check this out www.canomod.com It's your exact canopy. Kid you not! Look at trex v1.x I mean exact! I guess helidirect has been getting them there. Wonder where they got the other one? The one in there pictures???

I'm guessing that Canomod made prototypes, maybe this one proved too time consuming (IE too expensive to reproduce for $70) to mass produce? So they dropped it and replaced it with a little simpler design? Heli Direct either wasn't informed or didn't change their webpage yet.

On another thought, the box the canopy came in had a sticker with a picture exactly the same as what Heli Direct shows on their webpage. The sticker is from Canomod - So, that may reinforce the above - just that the distributors were not advised about the product change.

Think I should still get a different one??? If I saw the picture of the one that is from the Canomod site, I would have gone with a different one.

wats the difference between version 1 and version 2 on the website?

The shape of the canopy. V1 looks like mine and has bulges on the sides. V2 is fatter in profile.

hey shag555 i think you should keep it i think the canopy is very cool looking. unless you could ship it back and them just replace with what you want, that would be sweet. but other than that i think it is really cool.

Heli Direct is great with Customer Service. Very fast in response, and was willing to replace it. However... I already glued my gromets in for the mounts, and I managed to scratch it near the front, so I wouldn't feel right about them replacing it. It isn't what's on their website (Canomod doesn't make that scheme anymore), but you're right it is still pretty cool.

Well, given that it's a little damaged... I'd keep it. Like I said before... I'd a been pissed. When it comes down to it.... Do you like it? Got to admit, makes a pretty good conversation piece now. Killer Koi!!

Sean told me that they're coming out with another brand that has some more designs as well. Can't wait, but this one is fine. Everyone who sees it thinks it's awsome. I wouldn't mind getting a plain white one and having someone paint it for me via their "original design" though too.

By the way, other than a little dirt and overspray (very little), the finish is just about like a car finish (no orange peel, and shiny as hell)!

I ordered a canopy for my T-Rex 450SE V1 from canomod.com and my order number is 2114. Its been almost 20 days that i placed an order, but still there's no news of the canopy being shipped. After i placed the order initially they said that they'll ship it within one week. Now its been over 20 days and theres no reply for my mails nor the shippment tracking is given to me. There's no telephone number to where i can call and ask these people. Please help.
