What Trex to get and equip, ect
I plan on getting a T-rex and im looking at something in the 700 dollar range total, i already have an accu-cycle elite charger so i guess thats a start, i am going to buy the dx-7 so that leaves me with about 450 dollars or so for heli, gyro, servos, battery's ect. I need some input on what i should be ordering and what to get to have a nice flying heli.
Thanks,
Shane

T-Rex 450 SA $199
Phoenix 35 ESC $90
Align brushless motor 3000kv $50
Futaba 401 Gyro $ 150
Li-Po 2500mah $85
and your already at your limit but thats what i would start with.....then i would save up some more and then get a digital servo for the tail rotor for a solid tail *not cheap though* then the other 3 servos $15/per for your elevator, aileron, and pitch.....and thats all you should need
it will cost just a little bit more than what you plan on closer to 600 but it will be very nice to fly
to me thats a mild setup my heli was over $1000 when i was finished with it....

4x Hitec HS65 servos
or 3x Hitec HS65 and the Futaba 9650 digital tail servo if your budget has the room.
Futaba gy401 gyro
These are items that should be considered minimums.

what batterys would you recomend? on tower hobbies i can save 30 dollars of of a 150 or more purchase so ican make a few seperate orders on the electronic stuff to save around 90 dollars or so allowing me to buy higher end equipment. I was lookng at the digital futaba gyro and figured it would be better just to spend the extra 30 or so follars on it what do you think?

i have the 450 xl cde and i regret not spending the extra few shackles for the upgraded model SA/SE. i have gone through the cheaper gyros untill i got to the 401, it is expencive but you cant do without it. the best bang for buck tail servo is IMO the hds577 digital, it goes for around $35au and it does a great job. Please do not go near the E-flight 7.5 servos, they are great for foamys and stuff like that but my T-rex killed every 7.5 i had in it within 3 flights. best servo i can think of is the hs56/hs65 as far as value is concerened! you can buy these "motor max" style outrunners for about $40au and they are a fair stab better then the align piece i reckon.

T-Rex 450 SA $200
speed controller and a motor $150
hs65mg x 3 $100 (don't skimp on servos cause they suck to fix)
ds3400g x1 $100
401 gyro $200
Battery $100
Balancer $75
Pitch gauge $20
can o paint $5
-----------------
$1000
I wouldn't go any lower then that or your gonna end up upgrading later effectively wasting money. Basically thats what your going to need, it costs what it costs so save up for another month and do it so that it doesn't suck, fail, and end up costing you more in replacement parts.

GrandRC has the Align 2100 mA 3S Lipos priced at 2 for $99. pretty good deal IMHO.
They've also lowered the price on the humble 450XL HDE to $120 as everyone seems to want the direct to swash versions. A number of people think the HDE is better for newbs as it is easier to setup (no eCPPM interaction) plus you don't need the metal gear servos. Direct swash might be better if you're a real hot shot, but most folks probably couldn't tell. Plus you can always get the upgrade eCPPM frame later for around $75. It has the plastic tail block which some people say holds the boom better than the metal one on the SE.
Agree w/ others on gyro. Get the 401 or the JR. Don't go w/ the el cheapo versions.
