Default So how much wind is too much wind?

Question to everyone who's fairly comfortable with their TRexs, how bad do you find the wind can get before it's too much of a pain flying to be fun?
I was just curious as I'm only getting used to my rex and my current bird's a Blade CP and naturally I'm expecting a bit better tolerance to wind. Right now I don't even consider flying the Blade CP outside if the wind's over 10kph(reported, I don't have an anemometer).

the cp will not fly well over 8 mph but the T-rex will fly well up to 15mph and if all you are doing is hovering around mine has been stable up to 30mph wind

I have fown mine in at least 25 m/hr but I do not think it is any fun if it is above 10-15. It also depends on the wind. If you are in a wide open field without any objects the wind is not that bad. If the wind is blowing over objects it can become very unstable in the swirls caused by the objects. It can really throw the t-rex around. Either way I would definitely wait until good conditions to fly it for the first time or to try new tricks. Beyond that it just depends on your flying style and at what point you feel like it is not any fun.

The worst i have flown is 20-25Mph winds.

The wind will gust, just before the breeze hits, the heli will jump in altitude, then drop when the wind hits it. I'd say 10-15Mph it is fine, more than that you have to be good with throttle/pitch mangement to keep it steady. It is hard this time of year to not find a windy day around here. I have gotten used to the wind now so it is not so bad. Just the really breezy days 20-30Mph bursts i stay home.

I fly a lot in the gusty 10 to 15mph winds. It really teaches you control. One second the heli is 5 feet in the air the next its 30 feet up. lots and lots of inputs just to hold it still...great training....

Yeah I guess whether it's gusty or not and how laminar the wind is can have a big impact. Last year at a local "airshow" the wind was pretty hefty but steady but it looked like the TRexs were holding their own. Then someone tried to fly a slowstick.....

You talk about GWS slow sticks ?????....well today the wind was at least 25 MPH and we flew slow sticks for three hours this afternoon....Three of us with three different planes.....you have to hand launch them but once in the air we had a blast...no crashes at all but I did set mine in the back of the truck so I could rest and drink a coke and the wind blew it completely out busting the elevator completely in half.......it was hilarious.......nothing a little clear take couldn't temporarily patch.......it was fun.......I had my dragonfly and Trex and didn't dare get them out..........the wind was terrible..............but fun.............

Well yeah I guess there is the angle that it can be more fun flying the SS since you know if the wind really catches it you won't be out several hundred dollars when it crashes.
