while doing a back flip with my 450se the tail will drift however i can with about 40 to 50' of altitude jam to neg pitch in idle up and the tail holds fine. Please note during the flip i lose the tail when I go neg on the pitch. Any ideas on what might cause this. I have a 401, a nice dig servo and use a DX7

backflips, wish i was even close to doing that
only thing i can think of is maybe something to do with the tail loosing the power to keep it locked in. i have a 401 in my falcon and if im up kinda high, when i start to bring it down sometimes i kill the power alittle to much and the tail will start to slow down so much it doesnt have enough force to keep the tail straight. if it cant be because of this, i hope someone with alittle more experience can help ya. good luck.

nbjeeptj...What is your throttle curve for your idle ups?
I run the following:
Norm
0 40 80 90 100
Idle Up 1
100 92 85 92 92 100
Idle Up2
100 100 100 100 100
Believe it or not I get longer run times with 100 all the way across. Also the tell is more locked in. The reason why nitro helis run a 100 70 100 is to not have overspeeding at zero pitch (or no load and ruin the engine), electric helis don't have that problem. So it is safe to do so.

I have this same problem when I'm not careful while doing my flips. My guess is that you're bogging the rotor, in which case collective management is the answer.
Going full negative while at a steady hover means that the blades only hit 11 degrees or so of deflection. No problem. Add to that full back cyclic for a flip and your blades will hit upwards of 18 degrees. This causes the rotor to bog which means that you lose tail rotor speed and, as a result, tail control. This is one thing that simulators don't seem too good at replicating.
So, go easy on the collective and I think you'll have much better results.

the idle up 2 helped a lot the blades i have on it now are the factory yellow and black carbon i dont think it responds as good as it did when i built it i used the curtis youngblood blades till the third crash and they got pricy as often as i was crashing funny thig though i put the factory blades on and a lot of flight time later no crash

I bought my first set because I liked the way they looked at my LHS I got them for $50.00 however I have spent $1000.00 per month there for the past 6 months so I get a good discount. I do like the way the 450 flies with those blades but I did not now the diference until I used the blades that came with it.
