DX6 and the DX7
Arright so i'm fed up trying to fly my v2, and xl with my oldie JR radio, it works, but i just cant program the gyro right. So i'm really trying to get this DX7 radio which is aparently a great one to get, but does anyone else have experiance trying to fly a heli with the DX6?? Can you still program everything like you can with the DX7 ?? anyone know?? I dont really need the extra channel, and if i can save..??

RE: DX6 and the DX7
You can do almost everything the 7 can do with a six. Two biggest differences are that the programing screen is easier to work with and you get 5 point curves on the 7 as opposed to 3 points on the 6. I'm running the 6 with all my fixed wing and rotary birds. Havent had range issues with with my .25 size planes and I can do almost everything else the rest of the heli pilots at my field can do (except tic-tocs, but that's because of the pilot). If you want to be able to fine tune your heli even more, go with the 7. If you just want to fly and aren't looking into also building a 100" airplane, go with the 6.

If you're looking for a bargain, why not look at the DX6i that has been released with the launch of the Blade 400? It has 5 point curves, 2.4 GHz, DSM2 and a 5-model memory.

If you ever plan to go to a nitro heli, go for the DX7. You'll need the extra channel if you put a governor on it, which is highly recommended.

RE: DX6 and the DX7
Well the more and more I read up it seems that the DX6i would do just as well as what I'm gonna need... Does anyone know the exact differences between the DX6i and the DX7...?

RE: DX6 and the DX7
You might want to go to the Horizon site and download both manuals. It seemed to me that the 6i was a "dumbed" down version of the DX6( I'll get some flak for that one). I'm not real fond of 4 AA batteries running my transmitter. Here's my take on radios. If your going to stay with helicopters for any amount of time get the best with the most features you can afford. When I decided to give helicopters a try I check out radios and bought the 7 due to its features. I like it so much I'm moving my fixed wings to it this year. Bottom line your the one that needs to decide what's best for you.

RE: DX6 and the DX7
I have a 450SA with a DX6 and have been very happy with it. I converted from a Futaba 6EXH and setup was easy, it took about a hour to get everything ironed out. I would prefer to have the 5 point pitch curves now that I am starting to fool around with 3D. I have never had any range problems with the DX6 and fly circuits with my SA that put the bird out there quite a distance. The only problem other than the 3-point curves is a lack of battery duration. The DX6 (stock) will kill the battery quickly. I modified my DX6 with a switched-mode regulator and it runs forever with the stock battery. If you have the $$$ go for the DX7, but don't be afraid of the DX6. I don't know much about the DX6i...

RE: DX6 and the DX7
The DX6i is full range transmitter the DX6 is a park flyer. The DX6i is a 10 model memory not a 5 model. Its easier for me to program my gyro with a DX6i than its is on my DX7. The DX7 has the extra channel which we might use later, a governor? The DX6i has a throttle cut button which is a nice feature.

RE: DX6 and the DX7
Thanks guys, I think I might end up going with the 6i sense i'm still trying to pay off credit cards, car payements, and last christmas still...lol. the only thing is the way the menu button works, the rolling switch thing?? i guess it'd work? Does anyone know if you can put a bigger battery in the thing and have it last longer?

RE: DX6 and the DX7
go with the DX7.
I had both the DX6i and the DX7. The quality of build on the DX7 seems much better. I feel the menus on the DX7 are more user friendly. Plus you have 20 model memory and an extra channel for future upgrades.
In my opinion, the DX7 is the BEST UPGRADE you can buy!
