Hi all,

I have a 3400G on the tail with the RCE 500 stock Align gyro. Will I need to put in a step-down voltage regulator with this? I see that the servo lists specs at 6volts, but that doesn't mean much.

Also, if I do need one, can someone please recommend one for me. I have the stock Align BL35G ESC, not the X version.

Oh, one more question. If I want to use a separate BEC, what would you recommend for that? I know the Park UBEC is good, but does anyone else recommend anything different?
I was thinking maybe instead of spending $45 for a UBEC, I could just upgrade my ESC to the Align BL35x w/ the 6 volt BEC. Are people using that with success?

For servos I have 3 JR DS285s on cyclic, and of course, the 3400G on the tail.

all your electronics will work fine on 6V the align gyro is rated at 4.2-7v

I have the same setup on 6v on my 450se except i have a F GY401 Gyro

yes i was flying my T-Rex 450 and 500 today in my driveway ,,, to fly in winter all you need to do is let your Heli mainly your Gyro to cool down 1st but keep batterys and TX warm till your ready to fly ... i use floats on my 450

Do you know anything about the JR 550t gyro? I am looking at one for sale, but I don't want to buy it if no one is using it that could help me if/when I will need it.

I know the 401 and the new Logitech are great gyros, but I am just curious.

I dont have a G550t i was told its a bit tricky to set up not plug and play like a 401 but once setup they work good too ..... I do have JR G770-3Ds on both my Trex 500 and 600N i like them but they are more like the GY611

Ok, that sounds good. I think if I get it, I am patient enough to work with it to get it right. I know that the G5000 is a great gyro, and this is it's little brother. I will have to give it a shot and see.

just remember the 550 and the 5000 are older out dated Gyros ....... jr ones now sold are 500 and 770

Thank you, my friend. I was thinking that the 550 was newer than the 500, due to the higher number. But, when I looked it up last night, I found exactly what you said to be true.

I know I will be better off saving my pennies until next month and buying either a logitech 2100, or the 401. I have heard good things about the new 2100. Of course, the 401 has been the standard for years. Do you think I will be ok with a 2100? I am leaning towards that, unless I can find a good deal on a used 401. Some say the 2100 is better, and it is cheaper by about $35. We'll see.
