The Pro has carbon fibre body, fibre glass painted canopy and a shaft driven tail (torquedrive) unless you are a hardened 3D pro I would go with the Nitro sport.

Is there a technical reason for the torque-shaft not being available for an electric version (at least as a stock model)? For example, a lack of enough torque for an electric motor relative to a nitro engine, etc? I've still seen a modified electric Trex 600 with a torque tube instead of a belt tail, but it's not available as a stock, is it? Why is a torque tube considered "a step up" from a belt tail?

The Sport model (as it is called in the UK) is a lot cheaper than the Pro model, the extra cost of the Pro didn't justify buying it.
So you only get a G10 plastic frame and a belt driven tail!!!! but you still see them doing 3D
The G10 frame looks like carbon fibre as well.[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

so the 600 nitro that has the belt drive is not the pro model, and should sufficice for a intermediate to advanced pilot? lol

The ones at are field are always tearing up the tail drive gear for stuff that wouldn't even bother a belt drive tail. And it always seems to be the one at the back of the frames that goes, not the easy one to change in the tail gear box.

Answer to first question is "price increase".
Electric motors have enough torque to rip the teeth off the main gears, so a lack of torque is not even possible.
Answer to second question is " torque tube gives you an extra minute of flight time from the same input power" and less heat too.
reason is " shaft drive has less parasitic drag than a belt does".
