I had a 35amp ESC burn out on my recently with my scorpion -6. The question is, what's the recommended amp rating for this motor? Right now I'm just doing hovering, but hopefully I can get into 3d later, so something that will cover the whole spectrum.
The problem is, before the ESC burned out, there was a horrible tail wag with the GY401 and S9650. It would wag even if the rate was down to ~30-40%. Could this be because of the inefficient ESC? Thanks in advance guys. I confirmed that the gyro armed when the rate was up.
EDIT: I have a Spektrum DX7 and with AR7000 receiver, if this helps.

scorpion 6 is a 525 watt beast. that 35a esc is way underpowered. you need at least a 55a esc. if you're just hovering then the scorpion motor you have currently is way too much power for you. it drains lipos fast. get another motor that is more efficient until you're ready for some 3d then put the scorpion back on.

As far as your tail wag goes....how are you setting the gain.....are you using the gear endpoints or gyro sense menu? Generally, if you get tail wag in HH mode, you need to turn your gain down. If using gear endpoints, a good starting point for the gain will be 32% (anything positive is HH, negative is rate). If using gyro sense menu a good starting point is 72% (anything above 50% is HH and below is rate).
If you haven't already, I HIGHLY recommend you go over to helifreak and watch the Finless Bob video on setting up the GY-401....he uses the 9650 in the vid as well.
Good luck,
Skarn
