yes. you're going to need a decent charger and a power supply for the charger. try to pick one that does up to 6 cell lipos. that way if you decide to move up a bigger heli with higher cell count you'll be ready.
and yes i use spray paint. i got the paint at wal-mart. KRYON paint for plastics is the one i got. here's my latest canopy paintjob:

yup. no drift on the logitech gyro. not only that it will hold awesome for 3d manouevrs. setup is a bit longer and a little more complicated than the gy401. it does offer something the gy401 does not offer. independant left and right rudder limit adjustment. once its setup properly you'll be very pleased. as for lipos stick with the 2200mah 3S. i'm a bit anal when it comes to lipos. i only use brand name. Thunderpower, Flightpower, Kong power, are the only brands i have used. all 3 are excellcent but comes at a premium price. its worth it to me since i got more than 250 cycles on the thunderpower packs. treat them with care and they will last a long time.

the heli with the blue, red, yellow canopy is my Gazaur Poseidon480. here's a vid of me flying this beast last week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sS3BBPEIYBE

depends on your budget. i have the triton jr that charges up to 5-cell lipos. it doesnt have a balancer built in so i have an external balancer (astro blinky). and have a ripmax power supply. it takes 1 hour for each lipo to charge. this setup costs me $175. i should of bought a 6-cell charger since i'm going with bigger helis in the near future.

I think i'm going to stick around with the 3cell because I got a long ways to go and i'm on a budget. This is my first 6ch heli and I want to learn more as I go.
If you have any 450 size heli frames you want to get rid of becuase your moving on to bigger, better helis find me!

Hi, I took advantage of xheli black friday sale and pick-up the EXI 450 $55 kit. This is my first electric heli. I've been fly fixed wings for 10+ years and wanted to give heli's a try. I been using the sim and I'm doing good. Any help or suggestions would helpful, we only have one guy at my flying club that flys heli, and he's hard to get up with.

What do you guys think of this setup?

-30A Electronic Brushless ESC Speed Controller [Volcano Series]
-Alpha 400 (3500kv) Brushless Motor
-Hitec Metal Gear Gyro Pack with HS-65 Metel Gear Servos, HG-5000 Gyro and HSG-5083 Digital Servo (good price, on sale!)
-3S 2200mha lipo
-Spektrum AR6100e RX, JR 9303 2.4 TX

I see alot of folks talk about replacing the tail gear box, landing skids, and gears.

Thanks

Well, go with a 430L motor 35 amp esc and spectrum dx6i transmitter.
O also go with the gy401 gyro it has no drift and is very good.

I changed just about everything on my exi450 the only thing left on it that was original was the frame and the swashplate. basically turning it to a trex450se. it had 70% align parts on it. which is a big plus for you guys that own one because all the trex 450 parts are interchangable with the exi.

This is a low cost heli. Great for every day "knock around" type flying. I am going with the 2215-450 fan cooled motor, 35A Esc, HS-65HB servos all from LeisureRcModels.com and along with an Art-tech gyro from KA Planes. Great set up for not much money.
