Default 450s build question

HI ,
I am thinking about a build over the winter.
My question for those of you who have built a heli is. Can I buy just the heli kit and build the complete helicopter? It would be my 1st build. I dont want to buy just the heli, get 3 steps in and have to install something I dont have....... like servo or motor or.......
Is the 450s a good first build?
Thanks

The 450 is a good first build. Other that the servos that mount inside the frame everything else can be mounted on at a later date.
Good luck and have fun.

You can build a T-Rex kit (or any kit for that matter) completely and install all the electronics later. That includes the motor and ESC. There is no component that you can't install at a later date. Your best bet would be to get a combo kit that comes with motor and ESC. It's cheaper than buying separates. You'll need 3 servos for the cyclic, 1 tail servo and a gyro. Then you'll need batteries, a radio and a receiver. If you need all of the above, expect to spend between $1000 to $1200 to get it in the air.

i just finished an EXI 450 kit i got from XHeli...i built this just as to have something to tinker with and cruise around the field...

EXI 450 kit $59 Black Friday sale
Align 430 L motor/35a ESC combo $50 (ebay)
4 Hitec HS-65HB servo's (1) used on tail $80 HobbyLobby sale
Telebee Gyro $50
AR6100 rx $50

already have DX7

to compare..i have a Trex 450 se V2 with the GY401/9650 tail setup.
i was blown away as to how smooth and stable the EXI 450 flew....tail response was just as fast as the Trex setup. i wasn't really sure the Telebee Gyro would hold the tail that good...i was wrong !!!

this is a nice 450 kit if you don't won't all the BLING...to get into the 450 world
