There are several ways other than that, but with 'limited success at best.
1. Try threadlocker
2. Try JB weld
3. Drill and tap for larger screws(best alternative if it's possible), (but I don't think it is).
I'm still unsure which piece you messed up, but your second post got us a little closer.

try tapping a larger screw in. i havent done this to a tail but have done it on the head. and it works. the most difficult thing is finding that right screw. i have a used align trex v1 metal tail that i'm not using. Pm me if you're interested.
