RE: my 500 esp is here
Hey Dunk, congrats on your new heli. You're gonna love it! I get parts from my LHS, but you can order very easily online also.
very good online shops i personally use with no difficulty and fast shipping. just add www. and .com to these to go to their site.
readyheli
helidirect
flyhelirus
grandrc
Hey O.D. those upgrades from KDE is awesome man. expensive but awesome. especially the metal bottom plate.

RE: my 500 esp is here
Thanks, noob!
So, you're saying that the parts are the same (with the exception of the torque tube/tail stuff) are the same even though the part numbers are different? For example, the 500esp calls the feathering shaft: 500H011. While Helidirect lists the feathering shaft as: H50023?Just wondering because I figure I'll order about the same spares I've used for my BH500.
Thanks again!
Scott

RE: my 500 esp is here
I just thought I'd post this here... I don't mean to hijack.
After taking the TRex 500 esp plunge... I decided to dive a bit deeper and got the following to complete the build:
Ordered 2 6s 25C 2650mah batteries
Ordered a new charger
Ordered a Spartan DS760 gyro and USB cable
Ordered a JR DS3500G Ultra Speed Tail Servo
Parts, including Radix 430mm blades
I'm also coverting to Spektrum from Futaba, so I've ordered a DX7 with AR7000 receiver. I thought seriously about the DX7se, but decided to hold off until I'm proficient enough to notice the difference.
I'm on vacation starting next Friday, so I'm hoping everything shows up by then so Ican be flying the Trex by Sunday or Monday at the latest.

wow Dunk....that's a very nice setup. better than mine for sure. Getting addicted are we?? lol
it should be a straight forward build. i didnt have any issues with mine.
Dunk check to see if your Jr 3500G tail servo runs at 4.8v or 6.0v. you will need a 5.1v stepdown for the tail if its 4.8v.
i'm running the 9257 which runs at 4.8v. i had to buy an align 5.1v stepdown for $6.99 at the lhs.

Or get the 7100 receiver...it has stepdown/regulated voltage for Throttle, Rudder/gain...saves on some wiring.

You're right about the step down, though without it, the servo should be faster until it burns up! Thanks! Imissed that!
Dunno about the receiver. See, in addition to the stepdown, the 7100 is also a 2048 bit receiver fully compatible with the DX7se (it's also compatible with the DX6i and the DX7, but in 1024 bit mode, so I think I'll opt for the $6.99 stepdown instead of a $150.00 receiver. Granted, it wouldprobably be cleaner to install (lessofwiring jumble), butit's toorich for my blood at this stage. Thanks for thesuggestion, though!

RE: my 500 esp is here
My TRex 500 esp is here! I'm still waiting for other items to arrive, particularly the tail servo. I've found over the last few days that certain sites state things are in stock when in fact, they're not. So, I called around today and managed to find my tail servo. As it stands now, the build is on schedule to start Friday! I'm excited as all get out for this!
Scott
Update: Batteries, spares, swash plate leveler, and Radix blades arrived today, too.

RE: my 500 esp is here
becareful with the set screw on the flybar cage. a few including myself have stripped it. the align hex drivers are over sized and is really good for this build. tools like wiha will strip the screws. there are a few pre-assembled pieces in the kit, take them apart and loctite. use the iincluded align grease tube for the thrust bearings for the tail and head. on the feathering shaft: clean the inside with actetone to clean off the machine oil so the loctite can work on the screws, dont forget to clean the screws that bolt down the shafts also.
good luck with the build!

RE: my 500 esp is here
Thanks for the advice, again! I'll order a set of align hex drivers, right now! I got sick of stripping things on my BH500. Any other suggestions you have, please feel free to let me know! You've been a great help, noob!

i'm going to sort out my wiring in the back there. i really dont want to zip tie my servo, gyro wires, stepdown to the boom. it could rip apart in a crash.

RE: my 500 esp is here
I made a new shirt today ready for sunday flying. I am in the printing industry so I have access to a multitude of printing equipment. I ran this shirt out in carbon fibre T.T.V. I think it looks sweet. It looks better in real life but you can see the carbon effect in the photos. I am working on a hoody atm but still playing around with the layout and the materials.

All the parts are in, the build could start today if I wanted to use my current hex drivers, but I'm going to wait until tomorrow when my Align drivers should arrive. I just don't want to strip hex head screws. So, I wait.
