Programming a Spektrum DX6 for a 450 CDE
 

Hello all,

Hope you are doing good today. As you can see from my subject line, I am having problems programming my Spektrum DX6 for my 450XL CDE. I found a website that shows you how to program the TX for a 450 SE. However, due to the placement of the servos and stuff, I don't think that will help me at all. Is there anyone out there that is using the DX6 with a 450 CDE? If so, I can sure use some help.

Chris,

I have a HDE not a CDE but I can help you out if you can tell me what you are looking for. Not trying to be vague just need to know how much you understand about the radio. Also look about 16 posts down from this one and you will see a setup for hte HDE this will get you going and then all we will have to do is work on the Swashplate mixing.

actually the setup is nearly the same for the CDE and the SE. The 120 degree swash is the same and so is the mixing. The CDE just uses links and arms to get to the servos that are mounted on the forward servo tray. You have to determine which servos are AIL, ELE and AUX(pitch) refer to the picture below to see which plugs in where on your receiver. Keep in mind that the first plug on the dx6 is for a battery and or binding and as such it is not number 1. I like to think of it as number 0. AIL is number 2, ELE is number 3 and AUX is number 6.

I will look at the numbers for the SE and see how they work for me. I appreciate the rather quick reply. I am hoping to get the thing airborne soon.:D I will let you know how things turn out.

On that first run up I would throw in about 45% exp to keep things calm for you this way you can see what's going on. Then after you get the gyro set up turn down the exp as you like.

helorookie, what website did you find? Can you post the link? I am building a 450se now and I just got a DX6. This would make my life a lot easier and allow me some spare time to fly.

ok i had the same problem until yesterday when i finally got it figured out. Now this is my setup and I have NOT flown with it yet. so adjustments might have to be made. but this is a very good starting point.

ok first hold both orange buttons up and turn on the TX.

Type - HE
Reset - HE
D/R SW - E.
Gear - A

ok now turn off the TX and turn it back on. now push both the orange buttons up and select.

i'll post pics of where each servos goes on the RX because if you put them in the wrong place the wont operate in the right way.

To help you set up your helicopter a bit and make it not so twitchy when you spool it up for the first few flight I would change these:

PLN - 0%
P2N - 50%
PHN - 100%

To this

PLN - 40%
P2N - 50%
PHN - 90%

That will make your max Neg pitch about -3 and your max Pos pitch about 8 or so. Makes for a more mild first flight.
