Default Tacho Reading methods

Hi, i was just wondering if anyone could give me some ideas to get a more stable tacho reading, i remeber reading something about the background of where you are shooting the prop but i cant find it anymore and i no longer remember it, im using a feigao tacho/multimeter/servo tester.

cheers

the best background is a nice clear blue sky, it's hard to beat. the only problems you run into when taching is the color of the prop. the gray APC props are harder for the cheaper tachs to pickup correctly. personally i use a TNC tach and it'll pick up most any prop in any natural lighting condition from about 4-6 feet away from the prop. they cost a hundred bucks but are second to none.
