ASP 28A readings
Fuel: Model Technics Formula Irvine 5% nitro
Temperature: around 17ºC
Height: 180m above sea level
Prop: Master Airscrew 9x6
No muffler pressure feeding.
Medium-hot glow plug fitted.
Engine has around 20 minutes of running-in on the bench as diesel.
2 Head shims - peak 13200rpm, continuous 13100rpm, 2600rpm at idle. HSNV opened one turn from fully closed position.
1 Head shims - peak 13200rpm, continuous 13000/13100rpm, 3200rpm for steady idle. HSNV opened 4 clicks from previous setting.
Both tests conducted with less than 4 minutes interval frm each other (engine cooling down, head and shim removal, reassembly).
I conclude that 2 shims work perfectly for fuels up to 10% nitro, while 1 shim will do perfectly for FAI fuel, but won't show any better results for any nitro contents due to sporadic detonation.
