This engine runs great. Awesome value for 100 bucks! After about 40 ounces through it, I am turning an APC 12x6 at 14,000 rpm. This was flight ready, not peaked out. I had a #3 plug, Power Master 12.5% fuel, and the reading was taken at about 65 degrees F at sea level. After a gallon or so through it I might switch to a 13x6, but as it is, throttle response is very fast and the engine is extremely quiet for its size. I still have the muffler baffle installed and don't see a need to remove it. This engine runs like an OS; I flew it on its first start! Just set the high end, and the low end was just about perfect. I'm slowly leaning the engine out as it breaks in. I'm very happy with my purchase!

At first it was in the upper 11K range, but it slowly crept up to 14K. I'll do another tach reading when I get it mounted back on the plane (broke the motor mount) just to see what it says. It's entirely possible that the reading may have been inaccurate for whatever reason; I'm used to larger engine RPM readings and at the time didn't think twice about the reading that I was getting. The OS literature says the max RPM is 16K and that I wouldn't see it on the ground, and since I was swinging the smaller break in prop I figured 14K wasn't out of line. I'll get back in the next couple days about what I find. In either case it does pull hard and I'm happy with whatever the RPM is, but I do want to make sure I'm quoting the right figure.

Well, anyway, you've got an engine there that seems to outperform it's much more expensive brother the .61fx, and with a smaller airbleed carb at that. Not bad I say.
