Hi, I have a Wildcat that came with a Tactic radio. I can`t get a good range check on the radio. I found the TX antenna wire damaged. Can you tell me what kind of wire I can use to replace the current one? Also the old antenna wire has a bullet looking anchor on the top that goes into the top part of the antenna, is that critical to have on a new antenna? I have some old antenna wire that was used on the old 72mhz radios, will that work?

If the transmitter antenna is damaged, the transmitter must come into the service center for repair. The user is not permitted to effect repairs upon the RF stage of the transmitter, per FCC regulations. We need to make the needed repairs and then certify that the transmitter's output is where it needs to be. Without specialized equipment, the casual user is not equipped to perform these repairs.

Ok, thanks .. maybe I`ll just trash it. Not worth the expense and I have another radio I can use.
