What's a strong diff
Hey guys I've been developing a crawler based on a cut up TL01B chassis...
But it keeps on stripping the axle splines, I've even tried lock tight but eventually it fails. Any ideas... I think the weakest link the the bevel gears, they seem heaps softer than the hardened diff outputs and strip more. ATM it's stripped the rear right, but the splines and lock tight are still in good shape on the diff out put yoke? |

RE: What's a strong diff
Try genuine Tamiya parts?

RE: What's a strong diff
Yep done that... I've even stripped a one way diff and a manta ray diff, 2 tamiya diffs and 2 hbx, same car just different setup
If only there were steel not cast bevel gears or a one piece locked diff |
RE: What's a strong diff
The chassis was designed to be a sedan and later expanded to be buggy. It was never intended to be driven offroad with 2.2 truck or crawler tires. You might try 1.9 wheels and tires to reduce some of that stress. Also I'd lower the rear a bit to reduce the extreme angle the driveshafts are at.

RE: What's a strong diff
know that, Ive even got a Baja King
Dont see how changing the wheels will help, I know it wasent designed to have 2.2 wheels but these exact diffs, out put shafts, drive shafts are the same as what a wild dagger & tamiya twin detonator???? well thanks for your help, seems there is no one around????? OK ive worked it out all by my self, im going to get a spool and run the TT01 drive cups #53790 http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...DIFFPIXNET.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...bluespool1.jpg |
RE: What's a strong diff
I assume something like diffs from a CR-01 (which was built to crawl) won't fit/work for you?

RE: What's a strong diff
No bud totally different.
How's its been a while, still haven't fixed it, been 3 wheeling every where. Well I'm going to order these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Alloy-sol...#ht_1513wt_823 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Tamiya-53...#ht_1678wt_922 |
