RE: Mini Funtana -electric....When?

I ended up redoing the engine mount, to fit cowl, I bought some 5g servos on eBay and used a micro 5 channel hitec dual conversion... I am swaping out the motor with a norvel 15, I would like to hover and not enought verticle with 074, I have a OS 10 but it has the same power as the 074. It does fly well and is super light setup. It floats right in for landings.

RE: Mini Funtana -electric....When?

Ok guys got the first flights in on mine this afternoon.

This thing ROCKS! It flys just like my Funtana 90 and even a little better in knife edge. I kid you not. It looks just like it in the air minus the red covering on the bottom. And boy oh boy can you see that red covering. I was really surprised at how well it hovered. I was expecting it, just like its big brother, once it gets out of shape, no rudder will bring it back. But boy was I wrong. Plenty of authority. I flew mine in the precision wing place no problem. Knife edge had a little coupling of elevator to the gear when you grab a ton of rudder, no big deal though. No wing rocking problems when you get the harriers at just the right spot. Rolls looked really good, very axial in high alpha and fast, just like the big one. Tons of power in with the setup reccommended (see below for setup) I will post more as I get more flights in and some pics tomorrow with it next to its big brother. If you cant tell I love this plane. Just like flying the big one, but flying in a smaller place.Heres my setup.

empty wieght- 18OZ.
AUW 24 oz. ( with thunder power 2100 3S)

James,

Sounds good. Where was the CG and what kind of run times are you getting with that setup? Let us know if you try moving the wing forward. THanks.

RE: Mini Funtana -electric....When?

I have a timer set on the 9303 but have only used it once. I stopped flying at the 6 minute mark and still had enough juice for 1/2 throttle hovers and plenty of pullout. I have found that this plane is fast witht he prop that comes wiht it. i stripped out the spur gear today on the 4th flight. Motor is pretty warm could even say hot after 6 minutes. I put a Himaxx gearbox in today. htis will let me use APC props. I will try a 12x 3.8 and a 11x4.7 tomorrow. more updates to come........

RE: Mini Funtana -electric....When?

Had anyone fly mini funtana with brushless 400 motor with 3 cell Lipo 1500 mah battery. How it would be different from a mini funtana with 2100 mah battery?

Thanks

RE: Mini Funtana -electric....When?

If your 1500 battery can be discharged at about 15C then it will be lighter but flights will be shorter. If the discharge rate is much less than that, say 8-10C, it will just be underpowered because it will not be able to deliver the amps needed by most of the motors used on this plane. It will only deliver 12-15 Amps.
The Gen II Thunder Power 2100 mAh Li-Poly Has a discharge rate of 10-12C which means it will deliver 21-25 Amps. This is why this is the suggested batt. pack for this model, along with a weight of only 3.9 oz. Hope this helps.:D
