Default Futaba 9001 or 3010

I have a Rappy 30 V2, and want to buy some new servos for it. Running a Futaba radio and 148's (with bearing top end) right now just to get it sorted out. The orginal servos I had lined up for it wouldn't fit, so I just stuck the 148's in, and they seem to be doing fine so far. I don't have any intentions of spending allot of money on servos, but I notice two Futaba servos that caught my eye in my price range. The 9001 and 3010. Has anybody had much experience with these servos, and if so, what would you recommend? There probably won't be any hard 3D with this setup, but you never know. Thanks for any input.

9001s are very good proven servos. I run them in my Evo 50 and have run them in my Raptor 50V2. The 3010s are very new and unproven as yet. I'm not even sure they are spec'ed for helis. I know the 9001s have a coreless motor and work excellent even for pretty hard 3D.
Good Luck,,,Matt

Never could understand why such crappy servos are used in a ultra precision MACHINE. S148s maybe fine for a $100 car but a helicopter? I saw a guy at the local field with a Century Hawk and S148s. ***.

S9001s came with my Futaba 9CHP. What a disappointment. The bearing "wobbled" back and forth really bad on all of them and the main shaft on the servo was so sloppy. They were brand new!

I had another guy at the field look at them and he said "I can't believe Futaba let those go thru QC". Well anyway a good QUALITY heli servo is an S9202. I have it on elvator, alieron, and collective. I left 1 9001 on throttle and I have the digital S9254 for rudder.

I DID fly with the 9001 and they flew OK.

I used a 3010 for the collective and had no problems with it. It's got 5kg/cm torque. I have used 9001's on the rudder, but since changed to digital. If you're going budget and want normal servos then go for 3001's on cyclic, 3010 on collective and the 148 on throttle. Use the 9001 if your gyro is the basic entry level, but I would go for a digital on the rudder. The Hitec 5925 high speed is pretty good and a fair price.

Hope this helps.
