Default is this alright for a raptor?

I am going to buy a raptor kit in the near future. I want to buy the tx and servos first though. I was wondering if this was an alright setup as far as those are concerned. Futaba SkySport 6VH Heli Radio with Servos / RX & Battery

The SkySport 6VH radio for gas-powered helicopters offers fliers a wide array of advanced, easy-to-use mixing functions, at an economical price. It comes complete with four S148 standard servos. Exclusive microprocesser supplies true digital accuracy. Fliers can program in pitch curve, throttle hold, revolution mixing, idle up, ATV and dual rates

this is from www.helihobby.com It is $199 doesnt sound bad.

Also I have another heli on channel 12 ...should i get all my stuff on the same channel so if something ever breaks I can use my other one? I wont fly threm at the same time anyways.

thanx guys for the help.

Only a 3 point pitch & throttle curve and s148's are junk.

That setup will get you hovering but not much more...

Futaba 7CHP has 5 point programing, 10 model memory & blah blah and isnt much more than that.

I'll tell you that will likely be wanting another radio not long after you learn to fly with most of the 6 channel radios out there, the new Hitec 6 and the JR6102 may be the exceptions. I already had 2 JR662 radios that would fly a heli just fine and still waited to buy a heli until I could afford a JR8103 so I wouldn't be buying more in a short period of time. I kinda doubt I will out grow the 8103, but who knows. Get a radio that has 5 point throttle and pitch curves and defitely get some better servos. In fact it seems quite commonly recommended that the servos for a 30-50 size heli should be at least 50 oz in of torque for collective, and both cyclics. I am gonna use JR811's in my R50 v2, except for throttle and tail rotor. I have a Futaba 9254 for the tail rotor and a standard servo on the throttle.

Keeping things on the same channel is a good idea. In fact I ordered my 8103 on the same channel as 1 of my planes and will get a crystal for the other plane. The 8103 will now fly all my aircraft ad the 662's will be retired. 1 may be sold and the other saved for my daughter who's flying park flyers now.
