Default Raptor 30 V2 white plastic parts?

All,
I am just starting to build my R30 ARF and am about to dye all the white plastic parts first, including the ugly white tail rotors. Is there any issue with doing this?

I am going to use rit fabric dye and boil the parts for about 5 minutes. I have done this with RC car rims and 40-60 nylon airplane props with out ever having an issue, just never did it on a heli before.

Thanks for any feedback,
Veritech

I use to race and we did the same thing with our plastic parts. My concern would be that if the boiling slightly warped the tail rotor blades. When I raced AE Buggies and Trucks we did this to all the plastic and it would sometimes warp smaller pieced. I'm sure about the landing gear on the raptor. I think its a different material and it might not even take the coloring.

Wait for more responses, maybe others have done this and can let you know how it turned out.

Good point, hadn't thought of that. I think the gear should take the color, in teh past I ahve been able to color PVC pipe just as a test. PVC is rather hard and non porous and it still took the dye just had to leave it boil for a while longer.

I wonder if I could just soak the blades in hot wather instead of bringing it to a boil???

You could give the hot water a shot on the tail blades. You may have to let them stay in there longer. I would just take a good look at them before installing them back and make sure they are still straight. You got me wanting to do mine now.

Yup, I was thinking dark green or purple. I just hate to leave it stock white. Looks soo ugly.....

Am also doing the skid plugs too, everything tht is white and plastic is going to be dyed some color....

Did you ever get around to dyeing your parts? Any pics?
