I think it's a V2. Look in the main blade grip at the feather shaft bolt. A V1 feather shaft has a nut on it and a V2 feather shaft uses bolt.

The frame and canopy make it a V1, but I can't tell what version the head parts may be.

Can you SEE the head of the feathering shaft?

V1, No you're O.K. Most places list if the parts are V1 or V2. I think you can replace the head and then use V2 parts if you crash but I'll let others tell you for sure. Don't worry, you aren't screwed. There are so many Raptors out there, you'll still be able to find V1 parts 20 years from now, lol.

Its got some nice metal upgrades. Whoever built it tried to make it nice. Call Heliproz and ask them the dif between the two editions. They stock parts for both.

That is definitely a V1, the 2 screws in the blade grips make the head a V1. The feathering shaft is smaller on the V1 than the V2 so make sure if you put different dampners in you use V1 or they will be loose. The main shaft is 5mm instead of 6mm on the V1 as well. To make a V2 out of a V1 you need to change the frame, fuel tank, most of the head parts, feathering shaft, bearing block, grips, bearings and a few other parts. The V1 also has a weak tail on the grips area, if you crash it grab up some V2 parts and re-do the tail with V2 parts. They are fairly cheap so even if you don't crash it I would pick some up and fix the tail.

I also thought the 50 used a driven gear for the tail instead of the red gear like the 30's, but not 100% sure on that. Maybe someone else know's this? To me that looks like a V1 30.

Yep, now you've posted close ups of the blade grips, that is definitely a V1.

Follow impalacustom's advice. Fly it until you crash it, (when, not if!!) and upgrade to V2 (or Titan) parts as you go.

i wonder if i should just sell it on ebay......and put the money toward a v2.....
isnt upgrading it nearly as much as getting another used one?
what do you think its worth?..as you can see its all clean...and i started the engine....started right up had great compression./idle.

is there anything realy wrong with the v1?
i dont fly 3d....only loops and rools.
if i can get parts from heliproz and other places...why not just keep it v1..till parts are dried up?
unless there were serious flaws on a v1.....? [sm=72_72.gif]

I've been flying my R30V1 since about 2000 ... and it's still going. As long as you don't abuse the heli and do basic preventive maintenance ... it'll last.

Of course, with a 50 size, it's gonna be pretty tempting to " ... see what she'll do ... "

It's your money, you do what you want with it.

I'll concur with the suggestions to fly it and replace with V2 parts as upgrade opportunities arise. When you get to the head, and bearings, it will cost you some money to convert to V2, but not as much as a complete used heli.

Download the manuals here and start your research of what is what and fits where: [link]http://www.acehobby.com/ace/manual.htm[/link]

If you don't want it and are looking to sell it, send me a PM with a price tag. I could be looking for another 50.
