Hey guys
This may seem like a stupid question, but there has been some debate over whether a raptor 30 with a standard head and blades go inverted and do very basic 3d with ease. I thought that a stock raptor 30 could go inverted and do certain maneuvers just like the raptor 50. I wanted to get the 30 but was told that I would have to change the head to metal as well as upgrade the blades to do any kind of very basic 3d stunts. I know a 50 with all the metal is ideal, but truthfully could a stock raptor 30 v2 do basic 3d maneuvers? I like the 30 because of the cost and more stick time on a tank of gas. I am assuming that the 30 would use the OS motor, I think it is called a OS37. Can I get some honest feedback without a bias to just the 50 size heli.

It not a stupid question if you dont know
The Raptor 30 can indeed do basic (and some advanced) 3D, Ive got a Raptor 30 with a os37, standard head, and carbon blades. And it can do inverted, loops, rolls, and tick tocks (with carefull collective stick managment ,all be it a bit slower than a 50).
And to be honest theres not a lot of diffrence in price between the 30 and 50, Apart from a small diffrence in fuel consumption.
To be unbias as I have a 50 aswell, If you havent bought it yet, then go for the 50 [8D]
There is a video somewhere with Alan Zabo(sp) doing what he does with a 30.

I've seen this question before and the answer is always "yes", just not as fast or hard as the 50.
My question is, if people are asking whether the 30 can do 3D are they realling wanting to know if it can do normal aerobatics? 3D to me is advanced heli aerobatics like tic tocs, piro-flips, stationary loops/rolls (not flailing around the sky to complete the maneuver) and other hard-hitting maneuvers. I guess I'm saying that I consider 3D to be "stick banging" and not large, smooth, flowing aerobatics. Am I off base with this observation? I'm glad you specified what you considered 3D to be, that helps greatly in deciding what you want to the heli to do and if it's capable.

I have R30v2 w/OS37...One suggestion would be to use carbon blades if want to do 3D/aerobatics, because the woodies are not safe above 1700 rpms, for 3D you want a headspeed of at least 1800 rpms.

I second the 50 if you haven't bought one yet. As for the 30, it will perform very well and do plenty of tricks, more importantly than the heli is the engine. You have it right, if you get the 30, get the OS 37, the TT and OS 32 will be disappointing.
