The current Raptor is a V2. If you are just starting out and learning to hover then I would say yes a 30 is an excellent choice.
Low fuel consumption, and that is what you need to do is to burn alot of fuel and get alot of stick time.
It can always be converted to a 50. Engine, fan, muffler, belt, boom, blades and main gears. These items you can work on getting over time.

Just my 2 cents, good luck.

cheap deal........... i used a small belt cp electric heli to learn to hover and fly with. After that went straight into a 50 never turned back. if u can fly then go for the 50, a little more expensive but you will want a 50 a month after you get the 30 i think.

You're right but right now I don't have $$ for a 50. I started with a helimax rotorfly, then axe and walkera 22 and then helipro black hawk 450 and black hawk 500. Last i baught was Smartech pegasus 18. It is a 500 size heli with a little 18 engine. I do have a hirobo shuttle z with enya 35ss. But doesn't fly. I moved all electronics to pegasus. So raptor, eh didn't wanted one. I wanted a kyosho caliber 30 that a friend have but he sold it to his brother, or gave. He baught it for 100 dollars dunno what he sold it to his brother. But now I'm looking forward of raptor 30. Maybe l8ter on wonce i cant find parts i'll get a v2. If i don't like the engine i might get the os 37. L8ter on, i will get that Heli-Max Kinetic 50. Well thats a maybe.

Sure, with some throw and expo, it turn into a training heli. Sure why not? This heli setup great for training you'll be suprize. Also this thing can be setup as a 3d heli. .

As for 3d airplanes, with low throw and expo, it can be a totally a trainer plane. Same with helis. Airplanes is more forgivin ofcourse.
