No idea what is in it....smells like bug spray.....
I've heard of a couple of things....
Water in a spray bottle....spray one side.....glue on the other.....
Baking soda.....good for filling small gaps too....foams and leaves a white residue......

kicker
I am not sure whats in it either but you can use alcohol or 1 tablesp baking soda mixed with 2 oz water.
Basically it is moisture that kicks the CA. I have kicked CA by breathing on it the warm moist breath kicked it but i wouldnt recommend it as you def dont want to inhale by it.

It is some type of an esther, that sweet semll gives it away. I also recall there is a pretty indepth article on CA and its associated products in an issue of RCM a few years ago. It told how CA was made and stored, and what makes it work. Someone here may be able to give us the specifics.
Tha only drawback to the baking soda and water solution, is that if you mix the two together and put it in your kicker bottle, it tends to stop up the sprayer if you don't keep it shook up and in solution, been there done that.

Water may work for some (I've never had any luck with it) but the real catalyst in kicker is something called "aromatic amine". Maybe this means something to some chemist somewhere, but after doing a search, I found that that stuff can cost as much as $150 for 10mg.
I hope it don't take much!

I mixed some alcohol with water at a 1:2 mix, then added some baking soda till it got saturated and wouldn't dissolve any more. It works wonders! CA hardens in less than a second!
I was going to try and supersaturate the mixture, but why mess with god results? I'm happy with the present mixture as it is.

SPIT!,
I was glueing a strut together and didnt want to put them down waiting on the glue to set for fear the parts would get out of alignment, so I spit on the CA and it kicked, it wasnt pretty, but it worked...

CA Kicker
Can't tell ya whats in the stuff but I must say the water makes it go too. While running my tunnel hull OB at the lake this year I hit a half submerged stick, and it broke the transom out of the back of the boat. I had CA with me, but no kicker. The boat was of course wet, so i ran a bead of thin CA along the split wood. it went off as if i had put kicker on it. I ran the boat the rest of the weekend and never had a problem.

THE GOOD STUFF IN KICKER IS 1.1.1. TRICHLOROETHANE.
IT'S A CLEANING SOLVENT THAT THE MILITARY USED UNTIL SOMEONE DISCOVERED IT WAS CAUSING THE GUYS KIDS TO COME OUT WITH THREE EYES OR SOMETHING.
GOT SOME FROM A BUDDY WHO WORKED ON THE FLIGHT LINE
HAD SOME LEFT FROM YEARS AGO. IF YOU FIND SOME IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH. JUST SHOW TI THE BOTTLE AND IT GO OFF AND NEVER USE IT WITH THIN FULL STRENGTH IT JUST SMOKES IT.

What Giant Scale said. I use an old kicker bottle and put a 50/50 mix of household ammonia and water in it. It must produce heat because it often bubbles the wax paper I build on.
The Windex might leave a detergent film that would prevent a good bond if it gets onto an area that hasn't been glued yet. But then the ammonia solution will kick the CA before it is absorbed, so I guess the plan should be to use just enough.
I'm sure the 'official' kicker is formulated to evaporate faster, but the water/ammonia mix has other uses. It softens sheet balsa for bending without cracking and raises the grain for smoother finishing sanding (and cleaning dust out of the pores with a rag).

Hi all
I believe most kickers use a hindered or tertiary amines. triethyl amine is a common amine used in many other applications. I am not sure if it is used in kickers though.
Any basic material (as in acid and base) should accelerate CA. Thus, as mentioned in the earlier posts, ammonia, baking soda, water and your skin all make good kickers.
