Do not over discharge these batteries, as they will swell up.

Found out the hard way. Had it hooked to the ignition without
a switch. Not realizing the ignition continued draw down the battery.
The reason for no switch is, it went bad and I by passed it.
Now I unplug at the end of the flying session.

It's common knowledge that the various lithium batteries won't tolerate being discharged too much. Really it damages every kind of battery, but lipos and lifes seem to be more sensitive than most. I'm glad to hear the plane was on the ground when you realized the problem.

I'm aware of lipo saftey, just did not know the
ignition draws from the battery when you by pass
the switch. I still learn something new all the time.

Optical kill installed? I dont think the ignition would draw the battery down, but an Optical kill will for sure if there's no mechanical switch.

Edit: Bob, I see you're from Deland, were you flying at the Winter Festival?

Slightly off topic, but maybe someone here can help.. 

I have been looking at some 2s Li-Ion battery packs..  and most of them only have one set of leads..  I thought these had to be treated like Lipos and LIFe backs, needing to be balance charged..    the packs say something about that there is a Circuit board installed..  does this take care of the balance charging duties??

Lithium ion is different battery that an A123 (lithium phosphate).

Yes, I know that the A123 and Li-Ion are two different chemistry batteries... But I had found some LI-Ion Packs that only have one set of leads, which I assuem are both Discharge, as well as charge leads.. I was under the impression that the Li-Ion cells had to be treated Similarly as far as charging was concerned. I.E. Balance charged Via balance charge connections.. Just like the Lipos and A123s have to be Balance charged (Using the Proper settings on my charger, for the chemistry selected).

However, I found several packs that have only one set of leads, but the packs say that they have a Protective Circuit installed.. does that Circuit take care of the Balancing, instead of using the balance feature of my Charger??? If so, I am not sure I could use that type of pack with my charger, as it states in the manual that all cells that require not only the Balance plug be connected, but the Discharge leads be connectes as well.. (it's a Hitec Mulit Charger X2)

I am asking about the Li-Ion packs, because a 2s Li-Ion Pack is the correct voltage for my Airtronics SD10G Tx. and I would rather use the LI-Ion instead of Li-Po, as I Know myself, and I prefer the relative Safety of the Li-Ion packs.
