Guys, Ihave never attempted to use nitrate / dope to finish a plane. Iam in the process of building a Sig Hog Bipe, and Iwant to use this method. I searched the forums but haven't found what i'm looking for, a step-by-step introduction to covering with this method.
Please help!</p>

Go to: http://www.stits.com/ They have everything that you need to get started as well as great products that work well and work well together. They have a great video available as well as an instruction manual.
I have also used the old Aerogloss and Sig dopes as well as some of the newer Brodak dopes. They all seem to work well.
As far as fabrics, I have used both Sig Koverall as well as Stits Polyfiber. I like the Stits a little better, but I think that is just a personal preferrence. The Koverall seems to produce a few more pinholes in the paint, but maybe that could have just been my application.
Aircraft Spruce in California http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/cs/ceconite.html also sells covering for full sized airplanes as well as the dopeshttp://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/...hcoatings.htmlin larger quantities.
You will want to build up a few little practice frameworks to cover and paint in order to develop your technique a little, but I think you will really enjoy the process. I know I do. There are a lot of guys on here than can help you when you have any questions.
Good luck.

Aircraft Spruce also has Ceconite in several grades. The lightest is great for covering models. They also have the material, instructions, etc. needed to do a good covering and finishing job.

Keep in mind nitrate is not fuel proof. It works better than butyrate to adhere your material but butyrate is fuel proof and usually has better shrinking characteristis.

FYI. Coverite ''Balsarite'' is nitrate dope. Keep it in mind when needing ''some''.
