Default Quick Tip to keep your Monokote Iron off your Manhood

I fashioned a loop in the cord of my monokote iron and zip-tied it but it meant I lost a bit of length and we all know that no matter how long that cord is it could always be longer.

So I decided to do away with it and then this occurred to me. It might be better on the other side of the cord so the strain isn't all on one zip tie and instead goes around the hoop. I doubt it will make a lot of difference but I suppose over time the zip tie may start cutting into the cord.

In any case, I like to hang my irons from a hook on the side of the bench while I'm using them instead of using stands because I always manage to snag the cord and either pull it into my lap or onto the floor which shatters the brittle plastic handles.

Not much else to say about it. Takes about 30 seconds to do.

Great tip. Thanks Paul. I like to hang my Dremels and heating irons from the edge of my work bench, but it was always hard to find a good way to hang the heat irons. Then then you see a tip like this you plant you palm on your forehead and say "damn, why didn't I think of that!!!"

Seriously though, thanks for the tip!!!!

Wouldn't it be nice if you could have that light bulb come on by demand any time you wanted and it was always appropriate to what you were doing?

Too true.

I learned about the cable-tie clipped short around the handle of an X-Acto knife to keep it from rolling AFTER having one roll off the dining room table and stick straight up out of the top of my bare foot. Used much aeronautical terminology that day.

I've tried various ways to keep my knives from rolling but all of them so far bug me when I'm using the knife. I saw that tip a while ago and then forgot about it but never tried it. I like the newer X-Axto handles though. They don't roll very easily. But I have a regular #2 handle that's just round aluminum that I'll put a zip tie on and see if I like it. Thanks.

Gotta be careful with those covering irons! They cause Monokote to shrink, who knows what else!

I have an embarrassing confession that I have to make when it comes to covering irons. I have been almost permanently branded by Sandra Bullock. Yes, you read that right, Miss Congeniality herself. So here's the story. I was in my work room doing some covering work and I have "The Blind Side" playing on the TV. In the scene where Sandra is in the form fitting silver dress and high heels I looked up to watch her (who wouldn't, right??) and as I did so I let the covering iron that is in my right hand slowly lower until it touched my leg. As I tried to jerk it back I lost my grip with left it sitting on my leg long enough to put a good size red mark there. Been almost 2 years since it happened and the mark is still there. So there you have it, I have been branded by Sandra Bullock!!!!
