Guys...

I am finishing a P-51 and bought some latex house paint to match the Ultracote and need to paint several small pieces. I have a small (Pasche) airbrush and was wondering if anyone might know what works best to thin the paint so that I can spray it on?

I've used windshield washer fluid successfully with a Paasche airbrush (use the largest tip). Adding Floetrol (or your brand"s equivalent) may help, too. It's supposed to extend the paint's open time.

Another thought: You have to thin this stuff quite a bit for airbrushing. I don't remember for sure, but I think when airbrushing small parts with latex, I applied the base coat with a brush and just airbrushed the final coat. Latex brushes well, a guy in my club (who is a lot better at this stuff than I am) gets beautiful results painting whole models with latex using a one-inch camel-hair brush.

Thanks for the tip, Al. I ended up using regular Tamiya thinner and it seemed to work just fine.

I use Flowtrol as well. It does not leave brush marks or spray marks on the finished product. I just use water for thinning. I tried windshield washer fluid but it was changing the color of my paints by a few shades and in general making me mad as I was not getting the correct color match. Good Luck, Dave
