I've got the same backup camera system. Mine was a but more expensive at $100K. But it did come with some extras like a shower, dual air conditioners, microwave, stove, oven, sleeping beds, TV/DVD/VCR/Stereo, etc. I think Rogers is lighter than mine since mine weights in at 26,000lbs and requires 6 truck tires. It not a magnet mount either, but does feel stuck to the road while driving it.

Seriously though. With the backup monitor on my motor home, I can easily park the ball right under the hitch without ever leaving the drivers seat. I can see how useful Rogers setup would be on my mini-van.

100K, sounds a tad bit more then mine The reason for the magnet wireless is I also hook it on the back of the trailer when back up the rig. So it does double duty.

BTW, I don't leave the camera on the back of the van or the trailer while traveling, its only for pinning or backing up.

That looks like the X10 camera setup. I have one I put on my airplanes and helicopter. I picked mine up for about $80 new a year or so ago. To make remote, just cut the wall plug in off and wire it for two 9volt batteries. Instant cordless!

Everyone,

I would like to thank yall for the wealth of knowledge and inspiration I have received after reading this entire thread.

I am currently looking for my first trailer, either a 6x10 or 6x12 and now have the ideas to give the future transport plenty of MOJO.

BTW, when I get it setup you can bet I will post pics here!

Roger,

That's a nice looking setup. I am picking up a Pace 6x10 on Wednesday. On your shelving , did you use metal screws into the studs?
Thanks,
Bill

Thanks Bill, the shelving are the adjustable units for home use. I screwed a wide piece of wood on it for better wing support.

The rail is screwed in the metal studs of the trailer.

Default Just finished my trailer

Have to show you what's been soaking up my time and money. I'm transferred shortly to another city which gave me the excuse and push I needed to modify my trailer to make it a rolling hangar. It started out as a 4 X 6 with a 1 foot high box, and I had a friend stretch it to 8 feet and cut away what wasn't needed. I built the 4 X 4 X 8 foot box using spruce 1 1/2 X 1 1/2" (2 X 4s ripped in half) and plywood. Everything is glued and screwed using polyurethane construction glue. The floor is 3/4" plywood and the sides and top 3/8th" good one side. The doors are 1/2" good one side. It is on a Subaru rear axle with 13" tires. I painted it with 3 coats urethane floor and porch enamel inside and out. The underside of the floor has a coat of polyester fibreglas resin for waterproofing. It's ready to kit out for model use now. I have rails 1/2 way up to put a plywood shelf on so I can make more use of the space.

Default Painted trailer

Now Daryl, look what you've done. After seeing the inside of your trailer (by the way, you could eat off of the floor) I'm going to have to go out and paint mine. I didn't need the extra work, but yours looks so good and so bright, I'm going to have to do it. Nice job.

Thanks Fighterpilot - I think painting the interior is worth it. 3 coats is a pain in the ass to do, but the final result was worth it.

The trailer looks good Daryl!
Are you going to miss draging the planes in and out of the car every time you want to go flying?
Nice job with the trailer, it will defintely cut down the hanger rash.

Default Thanks!

Thanks Stomper - sure was a lot of work. Yeah, the hangar rash issue... hopefully once I have things kitted out in that trailer it won't be a problem. Here's one of the reasons I built that trailer - this is a G-62 powered big bird I designed and built that I'm currently finishing up. Definitely need a trailer to haul that thing around!

Finally finished...or mostly finished my new trailer. I still need to finish wiring it, etc. Trailer is an Interstate 6x12 (actually 6x14 with the wedge) with an additional foot of height (I'm 6'4"). A little plywood, paint, carpet and an insulated ceiling, dressed it up a little from stock. So far, I love it!

Here's the interior. I set the bottom shelf height up to accommodate planes up to 40% or up to a 25-30% plane on floats, which are both projects "in the hopper" at this point. My poor little 30% Carden Cap looks a bit lost in there right now though!!

The front is fairly open at this point. There is usually a Mini 3D electric hanging in the wedge to the right of the shelf. I have yet to mount the spare and a few other odds and ends up front as well. It's amazing how fast one of these things fills up! Sure is fun though!

Nice trailer, how do you guys make provisions for venting. It can get pretty hot in there.

The insulated ceiling helps a lot. I have a cable entry in the floor, and a sky-light/vent in the roof which, when both open, gives a small amount of airfow through the trailer. Most of the time I haven't needed to run with them open. With the exception of a few 90 degree days, heat isn't the problem here in Minne"snow"ta that it is further south. So far no problems. When I arrive at the field and open the doors, the temp is about the same as ambient inside the trailer.

Jim
