This method work very good to keep the wheels from falling the plane. It is not difficult to do.

The first photo is a piece of 5/32" wire.
The second photo you can see what it is.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info.
But, I think it's tough to drill a small hole on the axle.

JROTOR

I initially thought It would be difficult to drill holes in axles and I was very surprised. It was very easy. I am short of time today however tomorrow or Friday I will take some photo and explain the process and You will be surprised how easy it is.

Good Flying

I have a fool proof method, it has to be for this fool to use it. I cut the end of the axle just slightly longer that needed for the wheel. I then punch an axle size hole in a small square of 1/64" plywood and slip it over the axle. Place the proper size washer in place and solder. Remove the plywood and you automatically have 1/64 clearance for the wheel to rotate freely. If the washer is soldered properly and the axle not too long it will appear to be a small hub cap. Never lost a wheel yet and I started with ignition free flight in the 30's.

I have a questions regarding tires that come off the wheel rim. I flew my 80" Midwest Cap 232 today for the first time. I had a smooth landing although pretty hot. Suddenly the plane slowed and flipped over. What happened was that the my 3.5' Dubro wheel popped partial off the rim and lodged against the wheel skirt locking the wheel. Any way to keep that from happening? Any wheels that won't do that? I would appreciate any advice.

The first thing I would do is check the wheel allignment.

But why didn't you just start a new thread instead of reviving one that's 2 years old?

If you solder the wheels on with acid core solder, make sure you put baking soda and water mixture on to neutralize the acid.dry and oil .
