The Midwest AT-6 is a neat plane--I don't have it but just finished building the Midwest 300XS. Nice wood,plans/instructions...

You might want to check into Solartex, it is obtainable through Balsa Usa and Quantum models--both online

Solartex is a fabric covering that is polyester but attaches like a film only better. The advantages are many, but you can simply clearcote it with a polyurethane, or paint it lightly to show the weave, or basecoat/clearcote it and it turns out like glass...

Either way Good Luck and Good Flying!!

SolarTex is good stuff. I also like Sig Coverall. I used Skyloft once and won't ever use it again. Took way too much paint to fill the weave and when sanding between coats the stuff kept fuzzing which drove me batty. Maybe I didn't use it right.. I don't know, but prior to that I had done many covering jobs with tissue, silk and silkspan and when I tried the skyloft I just didn't have much luck.

I'm pretty much sold on SolarTex now. The only problem with it is that it tends to stain. I always paint it anyway, so that's not a problem for me, but if you don't paint it you should probably give it a sealing coat of clear to make clean-up easier.
