Aliphatic resin is also fuel proof and works well for the inside of the fuse when thinned with water. On the outside thinned epoxy or polyurethane looks better. Use pure alcohol to thin the epoxy, rubbing alcohol is 30% water and it does not evaporate fast enough.

Just to followup on the polyurethane...if your using water based poly make sure it's the stuff that used for floors. I made the mistake of using regular poly and the 10% nitro ate thru it very quickly.

Geeeeeez......You want to know everything?
I like to use epoxy - mostly thinned but sometimes straight. I use acid brushes, business cards (like a squeegee) and sometimes my fingers. I work it into the wood and wipe/brush off the excess.

Just to amplify on Steve's system;
You mix up some 30 minute Zpoxy then stir in either alocohol or methal hydrate to thin the Zpoxy down to the consistancy of thick cream.
Now using a disposable paint brush, paint the part of the AC that requires fuel proofing.
As the alcohol evaporates the Zpoxy will start to harden and your job is complete.
NTF; only do this in a well ventilated area with no open sources of flame! (no smoking!) [:'(]
