I have had excellent results with latex paint. Make sure you clear coat it after it cures (about 5 days)

Glad you mentioned clear coat over latex-building a Nieuport 28 with latex over solartex and what clear coat works the best-polyurethane is heavy, polyacrylic is not totally fuel proof, and everyone dog cusses lustercoat?? Kind of at a loss-not wild about spraying auto type clear finish. Thought about trying some of the lacquer type clear coats but hate to start experimenting at this point. Any of you experts have a favorite, just getting into this scale finishing. Flipstart

I have found 2 coats of MinWax PolyCrylic is raw fuel proof for 10% nitro. I did a test panel, poured raw fuel on it and let it sit 24 hours. It was a hair soft, but that was all. I feel you are not going to let raw fuel sit on the plane for 24 hours, so there should be no problems.

Ultracote clear works quite well also. The spray is MUCH BETTER than Lusterkote.

On the contrary, 2 part auto Poly Urethanes when thinned correctly and sprayed judiciously is probably the lightest clear finish for protection and cosmetics that you can get. A very thin coat of Urethane will protect better than many coats of lusterkote or any single part paint and it is fuel proof up to nearly any nitro content you throw at it.
