I just painted my engine cowl and wheel paints with yellow lustrekote paint. I topped it off with a clear gloss coat. I was really disappointed in the finish after I flew my plane for the first time. Any oily residue that came from my plane would not completely come off. So, my yellow finish had dark spots on it. Is this common and can something be done to protect the finish a little better?

The same product line has a clear coat they sell but it's expensive just like the paint (7.99) at the hobby shop. They claim it will give your paint a better fuel proof finish. Instead of paying that much, I picked up some clear at Wal-mart. I went with this paint because I couldn't find another paint brand that matched the yellow monokote color. Have you worked with any yellow paint that does match just as good but has a better spray or durability?
