Default Trouble applying Monokote to glass finish.

This is the first time I am trying to cover some glass finish areas with monokote. The "glass" finish is Z poxy on glass cloth. In the past I have always used epoxy glassed finished surfaces when applying paint, so have never discovered this difficulty when trying to apply Monokote. The areas that have this glass cloth are just the areas that the kit advised the glass cloth be applied for extra strength. (-like the center wing joint) So it's not a lot of areas with this glassed finish, but enough to cause concern. I don't want the covering coming loose and looking like crap.

Anybody else had this problem geting Monokote to stick to glass? Any hints/tips what to do?

You can use some balsarite on the glass. (adds adhesive.) rough the area before applying it.

MonoKote has always been a bit reluctant to stick to the glassed areas, such as the glassed wing center joint. If you just carefully iron it down, it will stick well enough so that you can get an overlap with the covering coming from the other side of the wing. Once you have it stuck to itself, and shrunk, it won't come up until you want it to.

My approach has been to heat it enough to make the epoxy soft so that it and the monokote adhesive kind of melt together. The big problem is that the sealed glass surface traps air and gas from the adhesive and makes it very difficult to get the bubbles out. These days I just paint the glassed parts.

Has anybody out there had better luck with another brand covering that will adhere better to the mentioned glass surface? (Ultracote....or....?)

Also, HCRCflyer mentioned "Balsarite": What kind of a substance is Balsarite, and how efficient will it take care of the problem for me?
