Default fiberglass cowl

Hi, I'm rebuilding my 60 sized stinger, and decided to redo the cowl with fiberglass. I made a mold from foam, covered it with 2 layers of 2 oz. fiberglass, then used gasoline to dissolve the foam. Worked well. My problem is that the cowl is not very stiff, and if it flexes too much it begins to crack. How do I stiffen the cowl? Heavier cloth or more layers of 2 oz.
