I finished a wing in red Monokote and used some small sandbags to hold it while i was stretching the covering. When I was done I noticed there was a ton of tiny scratches that almost frosted the finish. I was PO'ed. I decided to try and buff them out and tried MacQuires (sp?). I believe it was the Crystal finish system and it worked great.

I have tried the wax they use for wooden furniture, the type that you spray on and wipe the exess with a clean cloth. It works great, every time i use it they ask me if the plane is new. Also helps when cleaning the plane . Just remember to clean it with alcohol or acetone if you want to make a repair to the covering, otherwise nothing will stick to it.

Try McGuires #2 polish. Works great on Ultracote/Oracover. Less so on Monokote (not sure why either).

Don't know if it's still available but Tower used to sell some stuff called Monokote Polish.
