Hey guys, I am planning on putting [link=http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~bherzog/images/Extra_300.bmp]this paint scheme [/link] on a CG extra-300 and I am looking for suggestions on the best way to do it. My current idea is that I cover the whole airplane in white monokote and then have the black and yellow colored sections cut from vinyl so I can then just adhere them to the airplane. My thinking is that it would be much much easier to have nice, clean cut colors if a vinyl printer cut them than if I tried to cut them from monokote myself with a hobby knife. Also I was thinking that the vinyl cutter would give me the exact mirroring that this paint scheme demands to look good. Am I getting myself into trouble? Thanks for your input!

PA44Capt,
The problems you are going to have is that vinyl is heavier than monokote. Also, fuel and exhaust will work under the vinyl and cause it to lift off. There is a solution. Take you color scheme and you monokote to a vinyl cutter and have them cut the same designs in monokote. Have the cutter lay down a layer of application tape on the back side of the monokote before he runs it through the cutter. Once you have your monokote cut use the windex method to lay it down on your plane. Check out this thread for a very good explanation on how to use windex to apply your monokote.

Because of a conflict here with RCU a I can't explain in an open forum how I know about doing this, but if you PM me I'll gladly explain.
Hope this helps.
